W.H.O. NATIONAL POLIO LABORATORY, C.R.I, KASAULI
The National Polio Laboratory is located in Research and Training Wing of C.R.I., Kasauli. The laboratory was established in the year 1995 in collaboration with World Health Organization (W.H.O). It is one of the eight national polio laboratories of India involved in molecular level identification and surveillance of poliovirus.
The Laboratory caters Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh. It also receives few samples from other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi and Rajasthan. It receives intermittent stool specimens from children between 0-15 years of age suffering from acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) for poliovirus isolation and identification. The laboratory is accredited by W.H.O. thorough on site review by WHO experts.
Timings for receiving samples:
The laboratory receives specimens on all working days between 08:00AM to 04:40PM.
Transportation of samples:
The samples should be transported to the laboratory in cold chain in properly sealed containers.
